Flights from Sibiu to all countries

Sibiu is the capital of Sibiu County and one of Romania’s most important cultural and tourist centers, located in the heart of Transylvania. The medieval city was founded in the 12th century by Saxon settlers and was known as Hermannstadt. Sibiu boasts one of the largest medieval fortresses in Romania, once surrounded by three concentric rings of fortified walls, parts of which are still well-preserved today.

Tourist attractions include the Great Square (Piața Mare), a historic space surrounded by impressive Baroque buildings, the Brukenthal National Museum – one of the oldest museums in Eastern Europe, the Bridge of Lies – the first wrought iron bridge in Romania, and the Council Tower (Turnul Sfatului), offering stunning views of the city. Other notable landmarks are the Radu Stanca National Theatre and the ASTRA Museum of Traditional Folk Civilization, Romania’s largest open-air ethnographic museum, located 6.5 km from the city center in Dumbrava Forest.

Sibiu hosts numerous renowned annual festivals, such as the International Theatre Festival (F.I.T.), the Medieval Arts Festival, and jazz, rock, or folk concerts. Sibiu International Airport is served by airlines such as Tarom, Lufthansa, Austrian and Wizz Air, providing direct flights to several European destinations.
