Naples is the third-largest city in Italy, the capital of the Campania region and the province of Naples. It is a significant economic and cultural hub in southern Italy, with a population of nearly one million inhabitants. With a glorious past, Naples was founded in the 9th century BC, and under Roman rule, it became a prosperous city with a flourishing economy. Between 1285–1816, Naples was the capital of the Kingdom of Naples, and later, until the unification of Italy in 1861, it served as the capital of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies. Today, it is regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in Italy.
